Qur'an 3:1[edit]

Alif, Lam, Meem.

Qur'an 3:1 Notes[edit]

Once again, a chapter starts with some Arabic letters. What do they mean? Why are they here? Why are they in 29 of the 114 chapters in this book? Strangely, despite people studying the Quran since it was compiled centuries ago, nobody actually knows what they mean with any degree of confidence.

Qur'an 3:2[edit]

Allah, there is no god but He, the Living, the Eternal.

Qur'an 3:2 Notes[edit]

This is the first verse that people can understand. A baseless assertion seems like a bad way to start any part of this book.

Qur'an 3:3[edit]

He sent down to you the Book with the Truth, confirming what came before it; and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel.

Qur'an 3:3 Notes[edit]

This could mean something if the original Torah and Gospel were still around. Alas, they have both been corrupted while the originals are now lost to time. This implies that the Quran was perfectly preserved, a key belief in Islam, but the evidence for that is also lacking.

Qur'an 3:4[edit]

Aforetime, as guidance for mankind; and He sent down the Criterion. Those who have rejected Allah’s signs will have a severe punishment. Allah is Mighty, Able to take revenge.

Qur'an 3:4 Notes[edit]

Allah is insecure and vindictive, worthy of absolutely zero actual praise.

Qur'an 3:5[edit]

Nothing is hidden from Allah, on earth or in the heaven.

Qur'an 3:5 Notes[edit]

Despite this, the Quran makes him look utterly clueless.

Qur'an 3:6[edit]

It is He who forms you in the wombs as He wills. There is no god except He, the Almighty, the Wise.

Qur'an 3:6 Notes[edit]

Spoiler alert: Allah never actually proves that he has any involvement or even knowledge in that regard.

Qur'an 3:7[edit]

It is He who revealed to you the Book. Some of its verses are definitive; they are the foundation of the Book, and others are unspecific. As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they follow the unspecific part, seeking dissent, and seeking to derive an interpretation. But none knows its interpretation except Allah and those firmly rooted in knowledge say, “We believe in it; all is from our Lord.” But none recollects except those with understanding.

Qur'an 3:7 Notes[edit]

So why exactly did Allah include an "unspecific part" in the first place? Also, despite claiming consistently that this is "the Clear Book" in numerous chapters, Allah states outright that "none knows its interpretation except Allah" and that knowledgeable people are supposed to just believe it anyhow because it's from Allah? What sense does any of that make?

Qur'an 3:8[edit]

“Our Lord, do not cause our hearts to swerve after You have guided us, and bestow on us mercy from Your presence; You are the Giver.”

Qur'an 3:8 Notes[edit]

Many Muslims get down on their knees and beg for Allah to keep their hearts from swerving. Despite this, Allah has no problem letting countless Muslims lose their faith and become apostates.

Qur'an 3:9[edit]

“Our Lord, You will gather the people for a Day in which there is no doubt.” Allah will never break His promise.

Qur'an 3:9 Notes[edit]

Given the lack of evidence that such a day is even plausible, there is plenty of doubt. The Quran also talks about it coming any moment now despite being written and compiled centuries ago.

Qur'an 3:10[edit]

As for those who disbelieve, neither their wealth nor their children will avail them anything against Allah. These will be fuel for the Fire.

Qur'an 3:10 Notes[edit]

Allah once again loves reminding readers that he is a horrifying sadist.

Qur'an 3:11[edit]

Like the behavior of Pharaoh’s people and those before them. They rejected Our signs, so Allah seized them for their sins. Allah is Strict in retribution.

Qur'an 3:11 Notes[edit]

Several other chapters mention that Pharaoh specifically was an oppressive tyrant, but his only true crime was disbelieving in a being who stays divinely hidden from the vast majority of those humans whom he allegedly created.

Qur'an 3:12[edit]

Say to those who disbelieve, “You will be defeated, and rounded up into Hell—an awful resting-place.”

Qur'an 3:12 Notes[edit]

Watch as disbelievers refuse to take you seriously because you present inhumane threats while daring to call your god "Forgiving" and "Merciful" in the same breath.

Qur'an 3:13[edit]

There was a sign for you in the two parties that met. One party fighting in the way of Allah, and the other was disbelieving. They saw them with their own eyes twice their number. But Allah supports with His help whomever He wills. In that is a lesson for those with insight.

Qur'an 3:13 Notes[edit]

How exactly does this sign point to Allah being real? How would one army being smaller or larger than the other mean that Allah is the reason for that?

Qur'an 3:14[edit]

Adorned for the people is the love of desires, such as women, and children, and piles upon piles of gold and silver, and branded horses, and livestock, and fields. These are the conveniences of the worldly life, but with Allah lies the finest resort.

Qur'an 3:14 Notes[edit]

Spoiler alert: Men get so many women and can treat them like property even in Heaven.

Qur'an 3:15[edit]

Say, “Shall I inform you of something better than that? For those who are righteous, with their Lord are Gardens beneath which rivers flow, where they will remain forever, and purified spouses, and acceptance from Allah.” Allah is Observant of the servants.

Qur'an 3:15 Notes[edit]

In the very next verse, "purified spouses" are seen as prizes for a life well-lived.

Qur'an 3:16[edit]

Those who say, “Our Lord, we have believed, so forgive us our sins, and save us from the suffering of the Fire.”

Qur'an 3:16 Notes[edit]

Why does Allah not just save everybody from that horrific suffering?

Qur'an 3:17[edit]

The patient, and the truthful, and the reverent, and the charitable, and the seekers of forgiveness at dawn.

Qur'an 3:17 Notes[edit]

Those people only count if Allah allowed them to believe in him.

Qur'an 3:18[edit]

Allah bears witness that there is no god but He, as do the angels, and those endowed with knowledge—upholding justice. There is no god but He, the Mighty, the Wise.

Qur'an 3:18 Notes[edit]

Allah glazes himself way too much. It's seriously unhealthy.

Qur'an 3:19[edit]

Religion with Allah is Islam. Those to whom the Scripture was given differed only after knowledge came to them, out of envy among themselves. Whoever rejects the signs of Allah—Allah is quick to take account.

Qur'an 3:19 Notes[edit]

Allah claims repeatedly to be the reason why anybody disbelieves. Allah brags about leading people astray.

Qur'an 3:20[edit]

If they argue with you, say, “I have surrendered myself to Allah, and those who follow me.” And say to those who were given the Scripture, and to the unlearned, “Have you surrendered?” If they have surrendered, then they are guided; but if they turn away, then your duty is to convey. Allah is Seeing of the servants.

Qur'an 3:20 Notes[edit]

Allah deliberately chooses to withhold guidance for most of his creations.

Qur'an 3:21[edit]

As for those who defy Allah’s revelations, and kill the prophets unjustly, and kill those who advocate justice among the people—promise them a painful retribution.

Qur'an 3:21 Notes[edit]

What about those who don't believe that Allah exists and revealed anything but also don't violently attack those who do?

Qur'an 3:22[edit]

They are those whose deeds will come to nothing, in this world and in the Hereafter; and they will have no saviors.

Qur'an 3:22 Notes[edit]

While some people are willing to kill Muslims for their religion alone, and those people should rightfully be condemned, those extremists are the exception and not the rule.

Qur'an 3:23[edit]

Have you not considered those who were given a share of the Scripture, as they were called to the Scripture of Allah to arbitrate between them; then some of them turned back, and declined?

Qur'an 3:23 Notes[edit]

Could it be that this "Scripture of Allah" isn't remotely convincing?

Qur'an 3:24[edit]

That is because they said, “The Fire will not touch us except for a limited number of days.” They have been misled in their religion by the lies they fabricated.

Qur'an 3:24 Notes[edit]

How about those who don't believe that there is an afterlife fire in the first place?

Qur'an 3:25[edit]

How about when We gather them for a Day in which there is no doubt, and each soul will be paid in full for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged?

Qur'an 3:25 Notes[edit]

Unless this day actually rolls around, people are rightfully skeptical. Allah also says that "they will not be wronged" after explicitly stating that disbelievers will have their good deeds reduced to zero in the same chapter. Make up your mind, Allah, and provide a lick of evidence while you're at it.

Qur'an 3:26[edit]

Say, “O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty. You grant sovereignty to whom You will, and You strip sovereignty from whom you will. You honor whom you will, and You humiliate whom you will. In Your hand is all goodness. You are Capable of all things.”

Qur'an 3:26 Notes[edit]

Allah is certainly not omnibenevolent if he ever wills to humiliate and infinitely punish anybody. A truly omnibenevolent god would not want any beings to ever suffer in any way whatsoever.

Qur'an 3:27[edit]

“You merge the night into the day, and You merge the day into the night; and you bring the living out of the dead, and You bring the dead out of the living; and You provide for whom you will without measure.”

Qur'an 3:27 Notes[edit]

Even as metaphors, these verses show a lack of knowledge on Allah's part, at least regarding biology and cosmology.

Qur'an 3:28[edit]

Believers are not to take disbelievers for friends instead of believers. Whoever does that has nothing to do with Allah, unless it is to protect your own selves against them. Allah warns you to beware of Him. To Allah is the destiny.

Qur'an 3:28 Notes[edit]

The actual reason why believers are discouraged from taking disbelievers as allies or friends is that their faith might weaken if they're exposed to people who sincerely disbelieve.

Qur'an 3:29[edit]

Say, “Whether you conceal what is in your hearts, or disclose it, Allah knows it.” He knows everything in the heavens and the earth. Allah is Powerful over everything.

Qur'an 3:29 Notes[edit]

Allah claims to know everything in the heavens and the earth while failing to know what day and night even are.

Qur'an 3:30[edit]

On the Day when every soul finds all the good it has done presented. And as for the evil it has done, it will wish there were a great distance between them. Allah cautions you of Himself. Allah is Kind towards the servants.

Qur'an 3:30 Notes[edit]

A truly "Kind" god would never need to caution anybody of himself.

Qur'an 3:31[edit]

Say, “If you love Allah, then follow me, and Allah will love you, and will forgive you your sins.” Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Qur'an 3:31 Notes[edit]

Allah can effortlessly forgive all sins such that the very concept of sin would no longer exist.

Qur'an 3:32[edit]

Say, “Obey Allah and the Messenger.” But if they turn away—Allah does not love the faithless.

Qur'an 3:32 Notes[edit]

Allah says that as if he isn't the one who turns disbelievers away from believing and keeps them incapable of ever believing. Allah claims this repeatedly in the Quran.

Qur'an 3:33[edit]

Allah chose Adam, and Noah, and the family of Abraham, and the family of Imran, over all mankind.

Qur'an 3:33 Notes[edit]

Does anybody have any historical evidence of these human figures?

Qur'an 3:34[edit]

Offspring one of the other. Allah is Hearer and Knower.

Qur'an 3:34 Notes[edit]

Why would Allah need to hear anything when he supposedly already knows everything that everybody will ever say?

Qur'an 3:35[edit]

The wife of Imran said, “My Lord, I have vowed to You what is in my womb, dedicated, so accept from me; You are the Hearer and Knower.”

Qur'an 3:35 Notes[edit]

Of course, Imran's wife is a woman and thus doesn't even get a name in this story.

Qur'an 3:36[edit]

And when she delivered her, she said, “My Lord, I have delivered a female,” and Allah was well aware of what she has delivered, “and the male is not like the female, and I have named her Mary, and have commended her and her descendants to Your protection, from Satan the outcast.”

Qur'an 3:36 Notes[edit]

Mary gets a name but not her mother?

Qur'an 3:37[edit]

Her Lord accepted her with a gracious reception, and brought her a beautiful upbringing, and entrusted her to the care of Zechariah. Whenever Zechariah entered upon her in the sanctuary, he found her with provision. He said, “O Mary, where did you get this from?” She said, “It is from Allah; Allah provides to whom He wills without reckoning.”

Qur'an 3:37 Notes[edit]

That isn't a real answer. How exactly did Allah give you these provisions? Whom did Allah send to give her the provisions? Did the provisions magically appear alongside her or did she have to do any work to get them?

Qur'an 3:38[edit]

Thereupon Zechariah prayed to his Lord; he said, “My Lord, bestow on me good offspring from Your presence; You are the Hearer of Prayers.”

Qur'an 3:38 Notes[edit]

Allah was the one who supposedly predestined each and every prayer ever, only choosing to predestine some of them as fulfilled prayers while the rest are predestined to get nothing.

Qur'an 3:39[edit]

Then the angels called out to him, as he stood praying in the sanctuary: “Allah gives you good news of John; confirming a Word from Allah, and honorable, and moral, and a prophet; one of the upright.”

Qur'an 3:39 Notes[edit]

What a coincidence that so many of these prophets are related to each other!

Qur'an 3:40[edit]

He said, “My Lord, how will I have a son, when old age has overtaken me, and my wife is barren?” He said, “Even so, Allah does whatever He wills.”

Qur'an 3:40 Notes[edit]

Ah yes, this classic copout...

Qur'an 3:41[edit]

He said, “My Lord, give me a sign.” He said, “Your sign is that you shall not speak to the people for three days, except by gestures. And remember your Lord much, and praise in the evening and the morning.”

Qur'an 3:41 Notes[edit]

So basically spending a weekend cooped up and not needing to talk to anyone?

Qur'an 3:42[edit]

The angels said, “O Mary, Allah has chosen you, and has purified you. He has chosen you over all the women of the world.

Qur'an 3:42 Notes[edit]

Allah is petty for choosing some humans above others despite creating all of them.

Qur'an 3:43[edit]

“O Mary, be devoted to your Lord, and bow down, and kneel with those who kneel.”

Qur'an 3:43 Notes[edit]

Allah is so insecure that he has to tell his favorite humans to worship him.

Qur'an 3:44[edit]

These are accounts from the Unseen, which We reveal to you. You were not with them when they cast their lots as to which of them would take charge of Mary; nor were you with them as they quarreled.

Qur'an 3:44 Notes[edit]

Allah seems to know very little about the Seen, much less the Unseen. Then again, anybody could just make anything up and call it "accounts from the Unseen" because nobody will ever be able to debunk such unfalsifiable nonsense.

Qur'an 3:45[edit]

The Angels said, “O Mary, Allah gives you good news of a Word from Him. His name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, well-esteemed in this world and the next, and one of the nearest.

Qur'an 3:45 Notes[edit]

As an example, when Allah, Mary, and the angels are all fictional characters, anyone can say anything about any of them.

Qur'an 3:46[edit]

He will speak to the people from the crib, and in adulthood, and will be one of the righteous.”

Qur'an 3:46 Notes[edit]

Newborns uttering coherent words and sentences can enter this fairytale. Why not?

Qur'an 3:47[edit]

She said, “My Lord, how can I have a child, when no man has touched me?” He said, “It will be so. Allah creates whatever He wills. To have anything done, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.”

Qur'an 3:47 Notes[edit]

Allah clearly "wills" for all sorts of evil and suffering but not a perfect sinless world?

Qur'an 3:48[edit]

And He will teach him the Scripture and wisdom, and the Torah and the Gospel.

Qur'an 3:48 Notes[edit]

Allah must have forgotten the whole "wisdom" bit there.

Qur'an 3:49[edit]

A messenger to the Children of Israel: “I have come to you with a sign from your Lord. I make for you out of clay the figure of a bird; then I breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah’s leave. And I heal the blind and the leprous, and I revive the dead, by Allah’s leave. And I inform you concerning what you eat, and what you store in your homes. In that is a sign for you, if you are believers.”

Qur'an 3:49 Notes[edit]

They got to see those miracles, presumably, but can people today see anything to indicate that this isn't just another fable?

Qur'an 3:50[edit]

“And verifying what lies before me of the Torah, and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. I have come to you with a sign from your Lord; so fear Allah, and obey me.”

Qur'an 3:50 Notes[edit]

Conveniently, these prophets would demand total obedience from their followers because a god somehow said so.

Qur'an 3:51[edit]

“Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path.”

Qur'an 3:51 Notes[edit]

Allah can prove his own existence if he wants any given human to worship him. Better yet, he could just say the magic word "Be!" and turn anybody into a believer just like that.

Qur'an 3:52[edit]

When Jesus sensed disbelief on their part, he said, “Who are my allies towards Allah?” The disciples said, “We are Allah’s allies; we have believed in Allah, and bear witness that we submit.”

Qur'an 3:52 Notes[edit]

An omniscient omnipotent being having human allies is beyond insane no matter how the wording in this verse is interpreted. According to this confusing book, Allah literally created each human, knowingly predestining a minority to worship him and knowingly predestining all others to reject his frankly dubious existence.

Qur'an 3:53[edit]

“Our Lord, we have believed in what You have revealed, and we have followed the Messenger, so count us among the witnesses.”

Qur'an 3:53 Notes[edit]

Anybody who feels a genuine need to say that instead of just knowing that the omniscient overlord of this world already created them to specifically be a witness doesn't quite understand what they're saying.

Qur'an 3:54[edit]

They planned, and Allah planned; but Allah is the Best of planners.

Qur'an 3:54 Notes[edit]

This also seems like a strange verse to state when, according to the Quran, Allah's will is reality itself.

Qur'an 3:55[edit]

Allah said, “O Jesus, I am terminating your life, and raising you to Me, and clearing you of those who disbelieve. And I will make those who follow you superior to those who disbelieve, until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return; then I will judge between you regarding what you were disputing.

Qur'an 3:55 Notes[edit]

This is problematic because Muslims accept that Jesus existed as a prophet of Allah but not that the Bible was accurately preserved even to the time of Muhammad.

Qur'an 3:56[edit]

As for those who disbelieve, I will punish them with a severe punishment, in this world and the next, and they will have no helpers.

Qur'an 3:56 Notes[edit]

Allah really feels likes repeating such horrible threats against the people whom he predestined to suffer eternally.

Qur'an 3:57[edit]

And as for those who believe and do good works, He will give them their rewards in full. Allah does not love the unjust.”

Qur'an 3:57 Notes[edit]

Allah is the pinnacle of injustice.

Qur'an 3:58[edit]

This is what We recite to you of the Verses and the Wise Reminder.

Qur'an 3:58 Notes[edit]

Is this wisdom even in the room with us now?

Qur'an 3:59[edit]

The likeness of Jesus in Allah’s sight is that of Adam: He created him from dust, then said to him, “Be,” and he was.

Qur'an 3:59 Notes[edit]

The likeness of Jesus in the sight of skeptics is too that of Adam for reasons that go beyond: Both of them were never actually real and just made up from the imaginations of mortal humans who say that both mythical figures were created via magical means and totally existed as several other people also believe in these mythical figures.

Qur'an 3:60[edit]

The truth is from your Lord, so do not be of those who doubt.

Qur'an 3:60 Notes[edit]

This self-proclaimed "Lord" could start by saying any truth and only saying truth. Allah's inability or unwillingness to stay entirely truthful is a major reason why so many people doubt, though it could also be Allah's insistence on preventing the vast majority of humans to ever exist from actually believing. Allah seems antithetical to truth no matter what.

Qur'an 3:61[edit]

And if anyone disputes with you about him, after the knowledge that has come to you, say, “Come, let us call our children and your children, and our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves, and let us invoke Allah’s curse on the liars.”

Qur'an 3:61 Notes[edit]

What about those who sincerely disagree because Allah deliberately chose to not perfectly preserve the Bible as the common Islamic narrative goes? Those people are not "the liars" because they have no intention to deceive anybody, unlike Allah who is all about deception. Also, why would anybody need to invoke Allah's curse on anybody. Nobody deserves to be cursed in the first place. However, even if anybody could even conceivably deserve a curse from Allah, why would anybody actually need to "invoke Allah's curse on the liars" when those people would get precisely what they deserve regardless of who invokes this horrifyingly twisted form of justice?

Qur'an 3:62[edit]

This is the narrative of truth: there is no god but Allah. Allah is the Mighty, the Wise.

Qur'an 3:62 Notes[edit]

Then this book has verses doing nothing but glazing Allah, making him look like an insecure tyrant more than a "Mighty" and "Wise" deity worthy of human worship.

Qur'an 3:63[edit]

But if they turn away—Allah knows the corrupt.

Qur'an 3:63 Notes[edit]

Allah repeatedly brags about corrupting people and turning them away without the possibility of free will entering the picture.

Qur'an 3:64[edit]

Say, “O People of the Book, come to terms common between us and you: that we worship none but Allah, and that we associate nothing with Him, and that none of us takes others as lords besides Allah.” And if they turn away, say, “Bear witness that we have submitted.”

Qur'an 3:64 Notes[edit]

The Quran leaves me asking if Allah is even capable of directly communicating with anybody who isn't a prophet or if he's so powerless that he can only communicate via some of the most questionable people to ever exist and several people who probably never even existed in the first place.

Qur'an 3:65[edit]

O People of the Book! Why do you argue about Abraham, when the Torah and the Gospel were not revealed until after him? Will you not reason?

Qur'an 3:65 Notes[edit]

Could it be the sheer lack of evidence that this specific Abraham even existed, especially evidence that predates the earliest known Torah manuscripts?

Qur'an 3:66[edit]

Here you are—you argue about things you know, but why do you argue about things you do not know? Allah knows, and you do not know.

Qur'an 3:66 Notes[edit]

Allah doesn't know anything. The Quran constantly makes him look like a colossal idiot.

Qur'an 3:67[edit]

Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was a Monotheist, a Muslim. And he was not of the Polytheists.

Qur'an 3:67 Notes[edit]

Is this saying that Jews and Christians are predominantly polytheists, because adherents of either religion would have something to say about that.

Qur'an 3:68[edit]

The people most deserving of Abraham are those who followed him, and this prophet, and those who believe. Allah is the Guardian of the believers.

Qur'an 3:68 Notes[edit]

What does it mean for Allah to be "the Guardian of the believers" exactly? If this verse is talking about this world, then believers have sadly undergone some immense suffering and persecution. If this is talking about faith, then so many theists lose their faith because Allah doesn't seem to even exist, at least not as this book describes him.

Qur'an 3:69[edit]

A party of the People of the Book would love to lead you astray, but they only lead themselves astray, and they do not realize it.

Qur'an 3:69 Notes[edit]

This verse is rich coming from the Quran.

Qur'an 3:70[edit]

O People of the Book! Why do you reject the revelations of Allah, even as you witness?

Qur'an 3:70 Notes[edit]

So many religious Jews and Christians see exactly the same evidence as Muslims. However, this evidence is so lacking that so many religious people, even back in Muhammad's time, saw him as nothing more than a false prophet spreading dangerous ideas.

Qur'an 3:71[edit]

O People of the Book! Why do you confound the truth with falsehood, and knowingly conceal the truth?

Qur'an 3:71 Notes[edit]

Muhammad either didn't fathom or refused to admit that people can sincerely disbelieve because they see the flaws in his "revelations" so plainly. He claimed that they must therefore "confound the truth with falsehood, and knowingly conceal the truth" when this is something that Allah admits to doing in Muhammad's revelations. Whether Muhammad knew that he was spouting nonsense or seriously believed that Allah actually chose him is up for debate, but this verse is gross in either case.

Qur'an 3:72[edit]

Some of the People of the Book say, “Believe in what was revealed to the believers at the beginning of the day, and reject it at its end, so that they may return.”

Qur'an 3:72 Notes[edit]

Who? Who says that? Does any man (not made entirely of straw) actually say this?

Qur'an 3:73[edit]

And trust none except those who follow your religion.” Say, “Guidance is Allah’s guidance. If someone is given the like of what you were given, or they argue with you before your Lord, say, “All grace is in Allah’s hand; He gives it to whomever He wills.” Allah is Bounteous and Knowing.

Qur'an 3:73 Notes[edit]

Did somebody order yet another nothingburger with a side of lies and diet nope?

Qur'an 3:74[edit]

He specifies His mercy for whomever He wills. Allah is Possessor of Sublime Grace.

Qur'an 3:74 Notes[edit]

The most cruel person could choose to show mercy on a single human and revel in the suffering of everybody else. Such an individual would not be considered remotely merciful even after caring about a single human and showing sincere mercy to that single individual.

Qur'an 3:75[edit]

Among the People of the Book is he, who, if you entrust him with a heap of gold, he will give it back to you. And among them is he, who, if you entrust him with a single coin, he will not give it back to you, unless you keep after him. That is because they say, “We are under no obligation towards the gentiles.” They tell lies about Allah, and they know it.

Qur'an 3:75 Notes[edit]

The hypocrisy of this verse being in the Quran is truly palpable.

Qur'an 3:76[edit]

Indeed, whoever fulfills his commitments and maintains piety—Allah loves the pious.

Qur'an 3:76 Notes[edit]

The irony continues over to this verse.

Qur'an 3:77[edit]

Those who exchange the covenant of Allah, and their vows, for a small price, will have no share in the Hereafter, and Allah will not speak to them, nor will He look at them on the Day of Resurrection, nor will He purify them. They will have a painful punishment.

Qur'an 3:77 Notes[edit]

Eventually, these threats from Allah just induce sighs instead of screams.

Qur'an 3:78[edit]

And among them are those who twist the Scripture with their tongues, that you may think it from the Scripture, when it is not from the Scripture. And they say, “It is from Allah,” when it is not from Allah. They tell lies and attribute them to Allah, knowingly.

Qur'an 3:78 Notes[edit]

Does that explain why the Quran, which was perfectly preserved allegedly, has variants?

Qur'an 3:79[edit]

No person to whom Allah has given the Scripture, and wisdom, and prophethood would ever say to the people, “Be my worshipers rather than Allah’s.” Rather, “Be people of the Lord, according to the Scripture you teach, and the teachings you learn.”

Qur'an 3:79 Notes[edit]

And yet, according to this book, these prophets would command people to obey them. They don't say "Be my worshipers rather than Allah’s." but rather "Obey my every command because Allah speaks to me specifically and I am the only way for you to truly worship Allah." in a frankly hypocritical fashion.

Qur'an 3:80[edit]

Nor would he command you to take the angels and the prophets as lords. Would he command you to infidelity after you have submitted?

Qur'an 3:80 Notes[edit]

The previous annotation applies here.

Qur'an 3:81[edit]

Allah received the covenant of the prophets, “Inasmuch as I have given you of scripture and wisdom; should a messenger come to you verifying what you have, you shall believe in him, and support him.” He said, “Do you affirm My covenant and take it upon yourselves?” They said, “We affirm it.” He said, “Then bear witness, and I am with you among the witnesses.”

Qur'an 3:81 Notes[edit]

Not only does the Quran contradict itself, but it also contradicts the previously "revealed" scriptures which incidentally also contradict themselves.

Qur'an 3:82[edit]

Whoever turns away after that—these are the deceitful.

Qur'an 3:82 Notes[edit]

They could just have the common sense and mental faculties to find that Muhammad is "the deceitful" or just wrong at least.

Qur'an 3:83[edit]

Do they desire other than the religion of Allah, when to Him has submitted everything in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and to Him they will be returned?

Qur'an 3:83 Notes[edit]

This series of verses seriously implies that the people who disbelieve know that Islam is the truth but still choose to reject it for whatever stupid reason.

Qur'an 3:84[edit]

Say, “We believe in Allah, and in what was revealed to us; and in what was revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the Patriarchs; and in what was given to Moses, and Jesus, and the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit.”

Qur'an 3:84 Notes[edit]

Tell that to whoever wrote 2:253 among other verses.

Qur'an 3:85[edit]

Whoever seeks other than Islam as a religion, it will not be accepted from him, and in the Hereafter he will be among the losers.

Qur'an 3:85 Notes[edit]

This. Book. Is. Way. Too. Allah. Damn. Repetitive!

Qur'an 3:86[edit]

How will Allah guide a people who disbelieved after having believed, and had witnessed that the Messenger is true, and the clear proofs had come to them? Allah does not guide the unjust people.

Qur'an 3:86 Notes[edit]

Allah should just shut up. He claims to have created humanity but debunks these claims whenever talking about them.

Qur'an 3:87[edit]

Those—their penalty is that upon them falls the curse of Allah, and of the angels, and of all mankind.

Qur'an 3:87 Notes[edit]

You're still required to call Allah "Forgiving and Merciful" though.

Qur'an 3:88[edit]

Remaining in it eternally, without their punishment being eased from them, and without being reprieved.

Qur'an 3:88 Notes[edit]

Allah shows this infinite "Forgiveness" and "Mercy" to be far beyond what any human could even imagine.

Qur'an 3:89[edit]

Except those who repent afterwards, and reform; for Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.

Qur'an 3:89 Notes[edit]

There we go! Allah had to remind us of that after being the exact opposite of "Forgiving and Merciful" for way too many verses in a book that could be a tenth of its current length without so much redundant fluff.

Qur'an 3:90[edit]

As for those who disbelieve after having believed, then plunge deeper into disbelief, their repentance will not be accepted; these are the lost.

Qur'an 3:90 Notes[edit]

Allah was the one who chose to withhold belief from them after they sincerely believed. What insanity is this?

Qur'an 3:91[edit]

As for those who disbelieve and die disbelievers, even the earth full of gold would not be accepted from any of them, were he to offer it for ransom. These will have a painful torment, and will have no saviors.

Qur'an 3:91 Notes[edit]

This is redundant, redundant, redundant, redundant, redundant insanity.

Qur'an 3:92[edit]

You will not attain virtuous conduct until you give of what you cherish. Whatever you give away, Allah is aware of it.

Qur'an 3:92 Notes[edit]

Allah claims to be omniscient, so of course he would be aware of the events which he knowingly and intentionally predestined to happen.

Qur'an 3:93[edit]

All food was permissible to the Children of Israel, except what Israel forbade for itself before the Torah was revealed. Say, “Bring the Torah, and read it, if you are truthful.”

Qur'an 3:93 Notes[edit]

Is there an unaltered version of the Torah as this Allah fellow revealed it or not?

Qur'an 3:94[edit]

Whoever forges lies about Allah after that—these are the unjust.

Qur'an 3:94 Notes[edit]

Allah refers to himself as "the unjust", though this should be far from a surprise for anyone who reads more than two entire pages of the Quran..

Qur'an 3:95[edit]

Say, “Allah has spoken the truth, so follow the religion of Abraham the Monotheist; he was not a Pagan.”

Qur'an 3:95 Notes[edit]

Say that despite having zero actual evidence for it.

Qur'an 3:96[edit]

The first house established for mankind is the one at Bekka; blessed, and guidance for all people.

Qur'an 3:96 Notes[edit]

Bekka is not a typo or misspelling of Mekka. Rather, this supposedly refers to the Kaaba and the area immediately surrounding it, located within the city of Mekka. That being said, this detail can be ignored because "the Clear Book" doesn't explicitly state as much and people need to consult an outside source to know it.

Qur'an 3:97[edit]

In it are evident signs; the Station of Abraham. Whoever enters it attains security. Pilgrimage to the House is a duty to Allah for all who can make the journey. But as for those who refuse—Allah is Independent of the worlds.

Qur'an 3:97 Notes[edit]

Allah should know what the words "evident signs" mean before throwing them around willy-nilly.

Qur'an 3:98[edit]

Say, “O People of the Scripture, why do you reject the Revelations of Allah, when Allah witnesses what you do?”

Qur'an 3:98 Notes[edit]

Because many people don't believe in Allah as described in "the Scripture" and thus don't believe that this specific god knows anything. A cursory reading of "the Scripture" shows that Allah doesn't actually know jack about anybody.

Qur'an 3:99[edit]

Say, “O People of the Scripture, why do you hinder from Allah’s path those who believe, seeking to distort it, even though you are witnesses? Allah is not unaware of what you do.”

Qur'an 3:99 Notes[edit]

Allah is unaware of anything and everything that matters.

Qur'an 3:100[edit]

O you who believe! If you obey a party of those who were given the Scripture, they will turn you, after your belief, into disbelievers.

Qur'an 3:100 Notes[edit]

Shut up and stop repeating yourself every time anything approaching a thought enters your empty nonexistent head, Allah.

Qur'an 3:101[edit]

And how could you disbelieve, when Allah’s revelations are being recited to you, and among you is His Messenger? Whoever cleaves to Allah has been guided to a straight path.

Qur'an 3:101 Notes[edit]

Somebody reciting words that other people find convincing... isn't convincing in and of itself. This isn't made any better if the guy who recites those words claims to be a messenger.

Qur'an 3:102[edit]

O you who believe! Revere Allah with due reverence, and do not die except as Muslims.

Qur'an 3:102 Notes[edit]

This command is less than useless.

Qur'an 3:103[edit]

And hold fast to the rope of Allah, altogether, and do not become divided. And remember Allah’s blessings upon you; how you were enemies, and He reconciled your hearts, and by His grace you became brethren. And you were on the brink of a pit of fire, and He saved you from it. Allah thus clarifies His revelations for you, so that you may be guided.

Qur'an 3:103 Notes[edit]

This verse ensures that every Muslim is united in the one and only true sect of Islam while no other sects exist.

Qur'an 3:104[edit]

And let there be among you a community calling to virtue, and advocating righteousness, and deterring from evil. These are the successful.

Qur'an 3:104 Notes[edit]

Allah could perhaps clearly define "virtue", "righteousness", and "evil" in unambiguous ways that don't lead to major religious conflicts throughout history.

Qur'an 3:105[edit]

And do not be like those who separated and disputed after the clear proofs came to them; for them is a great punishment.

Qur'an 3:105 Notes[edit]

How about those who have still not seen "the clear proofs" that Allah pretends to have revealed to anybody.

Qur'an 3:106[edit]

On the Day when some faces will be whitened, and some faces will be blackened. As for those whose faces are blackened: “Did you disbelieve after your belief?” Then taste the punishment for having disbelieved.

Qur'an 3:106 Notes[edit]

Allah loves to remind readers of this infinite sadism, forcing people to disbelieve with nary an illusion of free will and torturing them forever.

Qur'an 3:107[edit]

But as for those whose faces are whitened: they are in Allah’s mercy, remaining in it forever.

Qur'an 3:107 Notes[edit]

Allah's mercy is pathetically finite.

Qur'an 3:108[edit]

These are the revelations of Allah. We recite them to you in truth. Allah desires no injustice for mankind.

Qur'an 3:108 Notes[edit]

This verse shines like a fine coprolite in Allah's truly enlightening scripture. How exactly can Allah desire "no injustice for mankind" while injustice is still allowed to exist.

Qur'an 3:109[edit]

To Allah belongs everything in the heavens and everything on earth, and to Allah all events are referred.

Qur'an 3:109 Notes[edit]

Who ordered extra fluff on their nothingburger with a side of lies (extra glazing) and diet nope?

Qur'an 3:110[edit]

You are the best community that ever emerged for humanity: you advocate what is moral, and forbid what is immoral, and believe in Allah. Had the People of the Scripture believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are the believers, but most of them are sinners.

Qur'an 3:110 Notes[edit]

This community allowed for slavery, violent conquest, forced religious conversions, and domestic abuse, all of which sadly persist to this day.

Qur'an 3:111[edit]

They will do you no harm, beyond insulting you. And if they fight you, they will turn around and flee, then they will not be helped.

Qur'an 3:111 Notes[edit]

Muhammad should have stuck to doing no harm beyond that.

Qur'an 3:112[edit]

They shall be humiliated wherever they are encountered, except through a rope from Allah, and a rope from the people; and they incurred wrath from Allah, and were stricken with misery. That is because they rejected Allah’s revelations, and killed the prophets unjustly. That is because they rebelled and committed aggression.

Qur'an 3:112 Notes[edit]

The hypocrisy brings yawns and little else at this point.

Qur'an 3:113[edit]

They are not alike. Among the People of the Scripture is a community that is upright; they recite Allah’s revelations throughout the night, and they prostrate themselves.

Qur'an 3:113 Notes[edit]

YAWN!

Qur'an 3:114[edit]

They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and advocate righteousness and forbid evil, and are quick to do good deeds. These are among the righteous.

Qur'an 3:114 Notes[edit]

LOUDER YAWN!

Qur'an 3:115[edit]

Whatever good they do, they will not be denied it. Allah knows the righteous.

Qur'an 3:115 Notes[edit]

LOUDER YAWN YET!

Qur'an 3:116[edit]

As for those who disbelieve, neither their possessions nor their children will avail them anything against Allah. These are the inhabitants of the Fire, abiding therein forever.

Qur'an 3:116 Notes[edit]

...oh? We're back to the inhumane threats? HOW LOUD CAN THIS YAWN GET?

Qur'an 3:117[edit]

The parable of what they spend in this worldly life is that of a frosty wind that strikes the harvest of a people who have wronged their souls, and destroys it. Allah did not wrong them, but they wronged their own selves.

Qur'an 3:117 Notes[edit]

EVEN SHINNIER COPROLITE!

Qur'an 3:118[edit]

O you who believe! Do not befriend outsiders who never cease to wish you harm. They love to see you suffer. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their hearts conceal is worse. We have made the messages clear for you, if you understand.

Qur'an 3:118 Notes[edit]

Oh wait, the entire book is made of coprolite.

Qur'an 3:119[edit]

There you are, you love them, but they do not love you, and you believe in the entire scripture. And when they meet you, they say, “We believe;” but when they are alone, they bite their fingers in rage at you. Say, “Die in your rage; Allah knows what is within the hearts.”

Qur'an 3:119 Notes[edit]

This isn't ordinary coprolite, though. This is 24-kakat coprolite.

Qur'an 3:120[edit]

If something good happens to you, it upsets them; but if something bad befalls you, they rejoice at it. But if you persevere and maintain righteousness, their schemes will not harm you at all. Allah comprehends what they do.

Qur'an 3:120 Notes[edit]

Believe it or not, but most disbelievers don't wish harm upon believers just based on beliefs. This infantile persecution fetish is not just blatantly wrong but downright dangerous.

Qur'an 3:121[edit]

Remember when you left your home in the morning, to assign battle-positions for the believers. Allah is Hearing and Knowing.

Qur'an 3:121 Notes[edit]

Yes. This book does also pull that not-all-disbelievers-want-you-dead-and-you-should-only-attack-the-ones-that-do card. Credit where it's actually due. However, the Quran still dehumanizes and demonizes disbelievers in a dangerous way.

Qur'an 3:122[edit]

When two groups among you almost faltered, but Allah was their Protector. So in Allah let the believers put their trust.

Qur'an 3:122 Notes[edit]

This is talking about a specific scenario that supposedly took place during Muhammad's life. Will the following verses explain what happened in detail so that people can still know what this is saying a millennium and a half later?

Qur'an 3:123[edit]

Allah had given you victory at Badr, when you were weak. So fear Allah, that you may be thankful.

Qur'an 3:123 Notes[edit]

Or will it skimp on the details in favor of tiresome emotional rhetoric.

Qur'an 3:124[edit]

When you said to the believers, “Is it not enough for you that your Lord has reinforced you with three thousand angels, sent down?”

Qur'an 3:124 Notes[edit]

Did the fighters at Badr actually see three thousand angels fighting alongside them? Did those fighters see any real evidence that angels were even real and sent down as reinforcements?

Qur'an 3:125[edit]

It is; but if you persevere and remain cautious, and they attack you suddenly, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels, well trained.

Qur'an 3:125 Notes[edit]

Did any of the human soldiers know that they were fighting alongside angels? Did each of the five thousand angels look like humans too?

Qur'an 3:126[edit]

Allah made it but a message of hope for you, and to reassure your hearts thereby. Victory comes only from Allah the Almighty, the Wise.

Qur'an 3:126 Notes[edit]

Just don't look at the many instances in which Muslim armies lost to disbelievers. This verse seems like little more than a morale boost to assure an army that they need to keep fighting and winning.

Qur'an 3:127[edit]

He thus cuts off a section of those who disbelieved, or subdues them, so they retreat disappointed.

Qur'an 3:127 Notes[edit]

This is strangely merciful from a god who would presumably just want to kill them on the spot.

Qur'an 3:128[edit]

It is no concern of yours whether He redeems them or punishes them. They are wrongdoers.

Qur'an 3:128 Notes[edit]

They may be wrongdoers, but a merciful god would only want to redeem them.

Qur'an 3:129[edit]

To Allah belongs everything in the heavens and the earth. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Qur'an 3:129 Notes[edit]

So that means that punishing them stops being a possibility? This "Most Forgiving, Most Merciful" would never will to punish anybody and only will forgiveness.

Qur'an 3:130[edit]

O you who believe! Do not feed on usury, compounded over and over, and fear Allah, so that you may prosper.

Qur'an 3:130 Notes[edit]

This seems like a sudden topic change, but the Quran is full of those. Also, will this book explain the finer details of an interest-free banking system? Even to this day, so many Islamic financial institutions get around interest by just calling it something else and pretending because it isn't technically interest. Then again, the very next chapter shows that Allah can't even do basic math and sees interest as a more predatory system of exploitation than slavery and only has problems with the former in any economic systems.

Qur'an 3:131[edit]

And guard yourselves against the Fire that is prepared for the disbelievers.

Qur'an 3:131 Notes[edit]

Yet again, Allah needs to remind everybody how sadistic he can be.

Qur'an 3:132[edit]

And obey Allah and the Messenger, that you may obtain mercy.

Qur'an 3:132 Notes[edit]

No truly merciful god would limit this conditional "mercy" to those who obey a questionable authority.

Qur'an 3:133[edit]

And race towards forgiveness from your Lord, and a Garden as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the righteous.

Qur'an 3:133 Notes[edit]

Allah is not a truly merciful god, alas.

Qur'an 3:134[edit]

Those who give in prosperity and adversity, and those who restrain anger, and those who forgive people. Allah loves the doers of good.

Qur'an 3:134 Notes[edit]

Allah should try emulating "the doers of good" if he likes them so much.

Qur'an 3:135[edit]

And those who, when they commit an indecency or wrong themselves, remember Allah and ask forgiveness for their sins—and who forgives sins except Allah? And they do not persist in their wrongdoing while they know.

Qur'an 3:135 Notes[edit]

Allah shouldn't need or even want people to beg for this "forgiveness" in a cruel system.

Qur'an 3:136[edit]

Those—their reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding therein forever. How excellent is the reward of the workers.

Qur'an 3:136 Notes[edit]

Not excellent enough to offset the true horrors of eternal existence, even in Heaven. Then again, this is infinitely superior to Hell.

Qur'an 3:137[edit]

Many societies have passed away before you. So travel the earth and note the fate of the deniers.

Qur'an 3:137 Notes[edit]

Several ancient civilizations have ruins. Where, in these ruins, does anybody see any evidence that Allah punished them using the punishments in this book specifically because they saw no real reason to believe that Allah even exists?

Qur'an 3:138[edit]

This is a proclamation to humanity, and guidance, and advice for the righteous.

Qur'an 3:138 Notes[edit]

Allah should stop using words and instead try knowing what any of them even mean.

Qur'an 3:139[edit]

And do not waver, nor feel remorse. You are the superior ones, if you are believers.

Qur'an 3:139 Notes[edit]

This is even more of that classic manipulation.

Qur'an 3:140[edit]

If a wound afflicts you, a similar wound has afflicted the others. Such days We alternate between the people, that Allah may know those who believe, and take martyrs from among you. Allah does not love the evildoers.

Qur'an 3:140 Notes[edit]

Allah is the ultimate evildoer. He may claim to be everything good, but actions speak far louder than words.

Qur'an 3:141[edit]

So that Allah may prove those who believe, and eliminate the disbelievers.

Qur'an 3:141 Notes[edit]

When will Allah prove that he has ever existed at any point?

Qur'an 3:142[edit]

Or do you expect to enter Paradise, before Allah has distinguished those among you who strive, and before He has distinguished the steadfast?

Qur'an 3:142 Notes[edit]

Allah could have effortlessly created a Paradise where everybody resides forever instead of limiting it to a slim minority of humans that ever existed. Why bother with Hell or even create this imperfect world in the first place?

Qur'an 3:143[edit]

You used to wish for death before you have faced it. Now you have seen it before your own eyes.

Qur'an 3:143 Notes[edit]

Allah is just cruel.

Qur'an 3:144[edit]

Muhammad is no more than a messenger. Messengers have passed on before him. If he dies or gets killed, will you turn on your heels? He who turns on his heels will not harm Allah in any way. And Allah will reward the appreciative.

Qur'an 3:144 Notes[edit]

Allah never existed to be harmed in the first place.

Qur'an 3:145[edit]

No soul can die except by Allah’s leave, at a predetermined time. Whoever desires the reward of the world, We will give him some of it; and whoever desires the reward of the Hereafter, We will give him some of it; and We will reward the appreciative.

Qur'an 3:145 Notes[edit]

Many people desire deeply "the reward of the Hereafter" but are sincerely unconvinced that Muhammad got anything remotely right about Allah.

Qur'an 3:146[edit]

How many a prophet fought alongside him numerous godly people? They did not waver for what afflicted them in the cause of Allah, nor did they weaken, nor did they give in. Allah loves those who endure.

Qur'an 3:146 Notes[edit]

Several people claimed to be prophets through thick and thin, prevailing in their own ways. What does this prove?

Qur'an 3:147[edit]

Their only words were, “Our Lord, forgive us our offences, and our excesses in our conduct, and strengthen our foothold, and help us against the disbelieving people.”

Qur'an 3:147 Notes[edit]

The Quran is a bonafide yawn factory.

Qur'an 3:148[edit]

So Allah gave them the reward of this world, and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. Allah loves the doers of good.

Qur'an 3:148 Notes[edit]

Allah should really try to do actual good if he likes them so much.

Qur'an 3:149[edit]

O you who believe! If you obey those who disbelieve, they will turn you back on your heels, and you end up losers.

Qur'an 3:149 Notes[edit]

Allah would see no need to focus this much on discrediting disbelievers if any truth was ever on his side.

Qur'an 3:150[edit]

Allah is your Master, and He is the Best of Helpers.

Qur'an 3:150 Notes[edit]

Allah is an expert self-glazer.

Qur'an 3:151[edit]

We will throw terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they attribute to Allah partners for which He revealed no sanction. Their lodging is the Fire. Miserable is the lodging of the evildoers.

Qur'an 3:151 Notes[edit]

Allah just won't stop being an insecure sadist.

Qur'an 3:152[edit]

Allah has fulfilled His promise to you, and you defeated them by His leave; until when you faltered, and disputed the command, and disobeyed after He had shown you what you like. Some of you want this world, and some of you want the next. Then He turned you away from them, to test you; but He pardoned you. Allah is Gracious towards the believers.

Qur'an 3:152 Notes[edit]

Is this going back to discussing actual events happening in Muhammad's time? More details and context would be helpful if this is the case. Why does so much of this book fail to make sense without outside sources? Why does so much of this book fail to make sense with outside sources?

Qur'an 3:153[edit]

Remember when you fled, not caring for anyone, even though the Messenger was calling you from your rear. Then He repaid you with sorrow upon sorrow, so that you would not grieve over what you missed, or for what afflicted you. Allah is Informed of what you do.

Qur'an 3:153 Notes[edit]

The same criticism applies here, though this verse also repeats the lie that Allah knows literally anything about anybody. Allah would have no need to do this if it were demonstrably true.

Qur'an 3:154[edit]

Then after the setback, He sent down security upon you. Slumber overcame some of you, while others cared only for themselves, thinking of Allah thoughts that were untrue—thoughts of ignorance—saying, “Is anything up to us?” Say, “Everything is up to Allah.” They conceal within themselves what they do not reveal to you. And they say, “If it was up to us, none of us would have been killed here.” Say, “Even if you Had stayed in your homes, those destined to be killed would have marched into their death beds.” Allah thus tests what is in your minds, and purifies what is in your hearts. Allah knows what the hearts contain.

Qur'an 3:154 Notes[edit]

Why would an omniscient creator test anybody? He should already know precisely what he created at any given time, right?

Qur'an 3:155[edit]

Those of you who turned back on the day when the two armies clashed—it was Satan who caused them to backslide, on account of some of what they have earned. But Allah has forgiven them. Allah is Forgiving and Prudent.

Qur'an 3:155 Notes[edit]

Allah could continue this forgiveness and actually forgive everybody who was predestined (by Allah) to that awful fate to which he dedicates way too much attention.

Qur'an 3:156[edit]

O you who believe! Do not be like those who disbelieved, and said of their brethren who marched in the land, or went on the offensive, “Had they stayed with us, they would not have died or been killed.” So that Allah may make it a cause of regret in their hearts. Allah gives life and causes death. Allah is Seeing of what you do.

Qur'an 3:156 Notes[edit]

Allah could demonstrate that he actually knows anything about life or death before claiming to give life and cause death.

Qur'an 3:157[edit]

If you are killed in the cause of Allah, or die—forgiveness and mercy from Allah are better than what they hoard.

Qur'an 3:157 Notes[edit]

Of course, Muhammad has no need for that in order to convince people to kill and be killed in Allah's frankly meaningless name.

Qur'an 3:158[edit]

If you die, or are killed—to Allah you will be gathered up.

Qur'an 3:158 Notes[edit]

Muhammad just needs to repeat this same nonsense enough to convince some people to live and die for Allah, which conveniently means living and dying for Muhammad specifically because Muhammad is a special human far above the non-special humans.

Qur'an 3:159[edit]

It is by of grace from Allah that you were gentle with them. Had you been harsh, hardhearted, they would have dispersed from around you. So pardon them, and ask forgiveness for them, and consult them in the conduct of affairs. And when you make a decision, put your trust in Allah; Allah loves the trusting.

Qur'an 3:159 Notes[edit]

So many people are ordering nothingburgers and diet nopes.

Qur'an 3:160[edit]

If Allah supports you, there is none who can overcome you. But if He fails you, who is there to help you after Him? So in Allah let the believers put their trust.

Qur'an 3:160 Notes[edit]

Allah could be kind and merciful enough to simply not fail anybody.

Qur'an 3:161[edit]

It is not for a prophet to act dishonestly. Whoever acts dishonestly will bring his dishonesty on the Day of Resurrection. Then every soul will be paid in full for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged.

Qur'an 3:161 Notes[edit]

Muhammad very likely believed a lot of what he preached, but he still seemed dishonest in many ways despite this consideration.

Qur'an 3:162[edit]

Is someone who pursues Allah's approval the same as someone who incurs Allah's wrath and his refuge is Hell—the miserable destination?

Qur'an 3:162 Notes[edit]

Allah talks at great lengths about predestining people to a life of disbelief and disobedience with room for free will. Allah should not ever be angry when reality itself is what he wants.

Qur'an 3:163[edit]

They have different ranks with Allah, and Allah is Seeing of what they do.

Qur'an 3:163 Notes[edit]

Allah is the one who created the ranking system and all humans in it.

Qur'an 3:164[edit]

Allah has blessed the believers, as He raised up among them a messenger from among themselves, who recites to them His revelations, and purifies them, and teaches them the Scripture and wisdom; although before that they were in evident error.

Qur'an 3:164 Notes[edit]

The "evident error" is believing anything not evidently close to any concept of truth.

Qur'an 3:165[edit]

And when a calamity befell you, even after you had inflicted twice as much, you said, “How is this?” Say, “It is from your own selves.” Allah is Able to do all things.

Qur'an 3:165 Notes[edit]

Allah claims omnipotence but also that he wants no injustice at all. Allah wants this world to have no injustice at all and allegedly has the ability to rid this world of anything close to injustice.

Qur'an 3:166[edit]

What befell you on the day the two armies clashed was with Allah’s permission; that He may know the believers.

Qur'an 3:166 Notes[edit]

Allah already knows the believers without testing them, right? Allah knowingly and willingly created them, according to himself. Allah selected each and every one of them whom he would let believe, also according to him. Allah doesn't need to do things "that He may know the believers" when he allegedly has all knowledge of all things as it is.

Qur'an 3:167[edit]

And that He may know the hypocrites. And it was said to them, “Come, fight in the cause of Allah, or contribute.” They said, “If we knew how to fight, we would have followed you.” On that day they were closer to infidelity than they were to faith. They say with their mouths what is not in their hearts; but Allah knows what they hide.

Qur'an 3:167 Notes[edit]

Allah deliberately created each and every hypocrite, predestining each and every thought for each and every one of them. Muhammad struggles to keep even this thing straight.

Qur'an 3:168[edit]

Those who said of their brethren, as they stayed behind, “Had they obeyed us, they would not have been killed.” Say, “Then avert death from yourselves, if you are truthful.”

Qur'an 3:168 Notes[edit]

This verse just sounds like Muhammad's frustration that not all of his followers were willing to die for him.

Qur'an 3:169[edit]

Do not consider those killed in the cause of Allah as dead. In fact, they are alive, at their Lord, well provided for.

Qur'an 3:169 Notes[edit]

Then again, this makes a chilling amount of sense to whose who sincerely believe that they're fighting for the greatest possible cause.

Qur'an 3:170[edit]

Delighting in what Allah has given them out of His grace, and happy for those who have not yet joined them; that they have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.

Qur'an 3:170 Notes[edit]

This can actually be comforting for many traumatized soldiers who had to see many people, on their own side and on the side of the enemies, die horrific deaths. This just makes them that bit more insidious.

Qur'an 3:171[edit]

They rejoice in grace from Allah, and bounty, and that Allah will not waste the reward of the faithful.

Qur'an 3:171 Notes[edit]

This infinitely nourishing carrot and agonizing stick, then, should only be criticized more for this reason.

Qur'an 3:172[edit]

Those who responded to Allah and the Messenger, despite the persecution they had suffered. For the virtuous and the pious among them is a great reward.

Qur'an 3:172 Notes[edit]

Much of this persecution is a direct result of people believing Muhammad's nonsense and obeying their cult leader in the first place.

Qur'an 3:173[edit]

Those to whom the people have said, “The people have mobilized against you, so fear them.” But this only increased them in faith, and they said, “Allah is enough for us; He is the Excellent Protector.”

Qur'an 3:173 Notes[edit]

This is certainly effective for believing armies to boost morale without any actual truth to it.

Qur'an 3:174[edit]

So they came back with grace from Allah, and bounty, and no harm having touched them. They pursued what pleases Allah. Allah possesses immense grace.

Qur'an 3:174 Notes[edit]

What kind of "immense grace" is this though?

Qur'an 3:175[edit]

That is only Satan frightening his partisans; so do not fear them, but fear Me, if you are believers.

Qur'an 3:175 Notes[edit]

How exactly is Allah any better than Satan?

Qur'an 3:176[edit]

And do not be saddened by those who rush into disbelief. They will not harm Allah in the least. Allah desires to give them no share in the Hereafter. A terrible torment awaits them.

Qur'an 3:176 Notes[edit]

Allah knowingly created Satan and predestined him to do every bad thing that he ever does, so all of Satan's faults are just a reflection of Allah's faults.

Qur'an 3:177[edit]

Those who exchange blasphemy for faith will not harm Allah in the least. A painful torment awaits them.

Qur'an 3:177 Notes[edit]

Allah wants almost every human ever to suffer endlessly.

Qur'an 3:178[edit]

Those who disbelieve should not assume that We respite them for their own good. In fact, We only respite them so that they may increase in sinfulness. A humiliating torment awaits them.

Qur'an 3:178 Notes[edit]

Allah, not Satan or any other beings, continues to set them up so that they can suffer even more after death.

Qur'an 3:179[edit]

Allah will not leave the believers as you are, without distinguishing the wicked from the sincere. Nor will Allah inform you of the future, but Allah elects from among His messengers whom He wills. So believe in Allah and His messengers. If you believe and practice piety, you will have a splendid reward.

Qur'an 3:179 Notes[edit]

This verse makes no real sense in a time when Muslims are all over the world and utterly divided on practically every line. Many of these disagreements lead to continued oppression and persecution towards Muslims by other Muslims even to this day.

Qur'an 3:180[edit]

Those who withhold what Allah has given them of his bounty should not assume that is good for them. In fact, it is bad for them. They will be encircled by their hoardings on the Day of Resurrection. To Allah belongs the inheritance of the heavens and the earth, and Allah is well acquainted with what you do.

Qur'an 3:180 Notes[edit]

Allah could stop speaking like an utter idiot and actually prove that he knows anything about anybody.

Qur'an 3:181[edit]

Allah has heard the statement of those who said, “Allah is poor, and we are rich.” We will write down what they said, and their wrongful killing of the prophets; and We will say, “Taste the torment of the burning.”

Qur'an 3:181 Notes[edit]

Regardless of whether Allah is "poor" or "rich" in any sense, he will always be awful.

Qur'an 3:182[edit]

“This is on account of what your hands have forwarded, and because Allah is not unjust towards the creatures.”

Qur'an 3:182 Notes[edit]

Allah is an utterly asinine personification of injustice itself.

Qur'an 3:183[edit]

Those who said, “Allah has made a covenant with us, that we shall not believe in any messenger unless he brings us an offering to be consumed by fire.” Say, “Messengers have come to you before me with proofs, and with what you asked for; so why did you assassinate them, if you are truthful?”

Qur'an 3:183 Notes[edit]

Where are these proofs? Allah keeps talking about proofs while refusing to share anything truly convincing.

Qur'an 3:184[edit]

If they accuse you of lying, messengers before you were accused of lying. They came with the proofs, and the Psalms, and the Illuminating Scripture.

Qur'an 3:184 Notes[edit]

And these were all so unconvincing that people still accused the "messengers" of lying.

Qur'an 3:185[edit]

Every soul will have a taste of death, and you will receive your recompense on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is swayed from the Fire, and admitted to Paradise, has won. The life of this world is merely enjoyment of delusion.

Qur'an 3:185 Notes[edit]

Allah could just choose to sway everybody from Hell to Heaven, as he should do to truly be that "Most Forgiving" and "Most Merciful" god.

Qur'an 3:186[edit]

You will be tested through your possessions and your persons; and you will hear from those who received the Scripture before you, and from the idol worshipers, much abuse. But if you persevere and lead a righteous life—that indeed is a mark of great determination.

Qur'an 3:186 Notes[edit]

This is yet another hypocritical verse in a book littered with them.

Qur'an 3:187[edit]

Allah received a pledge from those who were given the Scripture: “You shall proclaim it to the people, and not conceal it.” But they disregarded it behind their backs, and exchanged it for a small price. What a miserable exchange they made.

Qur'an 3:187 Notes[edit]

Quite frankly, "the Scripture" looks less divine than so many writings by mere mortals even before "Allah" revealed any of them to anybody.

Qur'an 3:188[edit]

Do not think that those who rejoice in what they have done, and love to be praised for what they have not done—do not think they can evade the punishment. They will have a painful punishment.

Qur'an 3:188 Notes[edit]

Allah seems to "rejoice" in what he claims to do without evidence and also "love to be praised" constantly, so will he punish himself?

Qur'an 3:189[edit]

To Allah belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. Allah has power over all things.

Qur'an 3:189 Notes[edit]

This book asserts that but suggests the opposite.

Qur'an 3:190[edit]

In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, are signs for people of understanding.

Qur'an 3:190 Notes[edit]

People who actually understand the "heavens" around the round earth and also "the alternation of night and day" see this book's many mistakes and confusing verses as a series of "signs" that Islam is a load of bollocks.

Qur'an 3:191[edit]

Those who remember Allah while standing, and sitting, and on their sides; and they reflect upon the creation of the heavens and the earth: “Our Lord, You did not create this in vain, glory to You, so protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”

Qur'an 3:191 Notes[edit]

Allah certainly "did not create this in vain" because he seemingly created nothing whatsoever.

Qur'an 3:192[edit]

“Our Lord, whomever You commit to the Fire, You have disgraced. The wrongdoers will have no helpers.”

Qur'an 3:192 Notes[edit]

So many people say this and still sincerely believe that Allah is a good god, which is nothing short of tragic. I say this about myself as an Exmuslim.

Qur'an 3:193[edit]

“Our Lord, we have heard a caller calling to the faith: `Believe in your Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins, and remit our misdeeds, and make us die in the company of the virtuous.”

Qur'an 3:193 Notes[edit]

This, too, is utterly tragic.

Qur'an 3:194[edit]

“Our Lord, and give us what You have promised us through Your messengers, and do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection. Surely You never break a promise.”

Qur'an 3:194 Notes[edit]

Allah isn't above any of the worst evil imaginable, stuff far worse than simply breaking promises.

Qur'an 3:195[edit]

And so their Lord answered them: “I will not waste the work of any worker among you, whether male or female. You are one of another. For those who emigrated, and were expelled from their homes, and were persecuted because of Me, and fought and were killed—I will remit for them their sins, and will admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow—a reward from Allah. With Allah is the ultimate reward.”

Qur'an 3:195 Notes[edit]

With Allah is absolutely no reward.

Qur'an 3:196[edit]

Do not be impressed by the disbelievers’ movements in the land.

Qur'an 3:196 Notes[edit]

Allah already said that he would let disbelievers prosper so that they continue sinning and send themselves to Hell in this very chapter.

Qur'an 3:197[edit]

A brief enjoyment, then their abode is Hell. What a miserable resort.

Qur'an 3:197 Notes[edit]

What a miserable god!

Qur'an 3:198[edit]

As for those who feared their Lord: for them will be gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever—hospitality from Allah. What Allah possesses is best for the just.

Qur'an 3:198 Notes[edit]

This will never stop being a slap in the face for people who truly cares about justice, even if it convinces many people to redefine justice in a cruelly unjust way.

Qur'an 3:199[edit]

Among the People of the Scripture are those who believe in Allah, and in what was revealed to you, and in what was revealed to them. They are humble before Allah, and they do not sell Allah’s revelations for a cheap price. These will have their reward with their Lord. Allah is swift in reckoning.

Qur'an 3:199 Notes[edit]

Allah seriously dedicates more than half of this book to a carrot and its accompanying stick.

Qur'an 3:200[edit]

O you who believe! Be patient, and advocate patience, and be united, and revere Allah, so that you may thrive.

Qur'an 3:200 Notes[edit]

This chapter's verse count of exactly two hundred is probably the only good part of it.
